MARSOL Ideal variety of chestnut for cultivation in lowlands and semi-mountains. Fruit that peels very easily!!! Variety created in the French region of Ardèche, from a selection of hybrid plants from the free pollination of the Japanese chestnut Castanea crenata and the European chestnut Castanea sativa. Registered in 1986. This variety can be grown up to 400 m above sea level.

Origin: Castanea crenata x Castanea sativa
Vigor: moderate, semi-erect, forming few lateral branches. The tree has a strong root system and is also suitable as a substrate.
Flower: crosses, therefore requires the presence of a pollinator near it, for example different varieties of Castanea sativa or hybrids of C.sativa x C.crenata eg MARAVAL , PRECOCE MIGOULE
Fruit: large to very large, glossy, mahogany red. It peels easily. they have a good shelf life. Delicious in baking.
Harvest period: end of September. The tree has an early onset of yield after planting.
Disease and frost resistance: resistant to the parasitic fungus Phytophthora ramorum, resistant to frost, resistant to root rot. One of the most resistant of the Euro-Japanese hybrids to ink blight
